ST. GEORGE

CHEESE OF TSALKA

Georgia is the homeland not only of wine, but also of cheese. However, the fact that the tradition of making cheese in our country dates back thousands of years. “The history of cheese production in other countries of the world is four thousand years old, and in our country there are 8,000 years old cheese storage vessels. Tsalka has been distinguished by cheese production since ancient times. It was made there with different technologies. At present, the ancient traditions of cheese production have been restored at the Tsalka Cheese Factory, and this factory produces 53 types of cheese – both Georgian and European.

CULT

Cult – This species is common in Tsalka. Dried kalt is mainly the food of shepherds and in addition to perfectly killing hunger; it is an unusual antiseptic. Kalt is made from fermented and something like parmesan.

MARNEULI MUNICIPALITY

Imir Resolved Hill – the cradle of wine, an 8000-year-old continuous culture of wine making. Distance from Tbilisi-50km. Gag Castle Located on the Marneuli-Red Bridge highway. It is first mentioned in history from the 11th century, but the architecture of the wall and the arrangement of stones prove that it is older and was only renovated in the 11th century. DASHBASHI CANYON

Dashbashi Canyon is located in Kvemo Kartli region, Tsalka municipality, in the gorge of the river Khrami, near the village of Dashbashi, at 1110-1448 meters above sea level. A natural monument on the river. It is a rare and biodiversity-rich canyon-like valley produced in the bed of volcanic rocks on the lava plateau of Dashbashi by Ktsia (Khrami). Dashbashi waterfall hidden in the green attracts a lot of visitors with its paradise idyll and beauty. The popularity of the canyon is also due to the fact that the walking distance is small and anyone can easily visit this amazing place without much effort.

THE DEITY OF MARTKOPI

According to historical sources, he founded one of the 13 Assyrian fathers, St. Anton the Lonely, in the second half of the 6th century. The monastery has been a cultural and educational center since ancient times, where a school was opened. The monastery complex consists of several temples, a bell tower, a saber and other buildings. To the east of the monastery, on top of the mountain stands the pillar of Father Anthony, on the ruins of which a tower has recently been rebuilt. It was here that Father Anton spent the last 15 years of his life. And after his death he was buried in the temple. Distance from Tbilisi-27km.
