Bardolino

BRIEF DESCRIPTION

Bardolino, a jewel located on the eastern shores of Lake Garda, is embraced by two tongues of land: Punta Mirabello and Punta Cornicello. The town is the perfect meeting point of history, culture, and natural beauty. Bardolino boasts some historical and cultural sites, including the Church of San Zeno, an example of Carolingian architecture from the second half of the 9th century. This church is unique as it is one of the few in the Veronese area to have remained intact after the devastating earthquake of 1117. The Wine Museum is a must-see for wine lovers. Founded in 1991, it tells the story of local winemaking through an exhibition that illustrates the winemaking process from the vineyard to the bottle. Bardolino is also famous for its elegant 19th-century villas, such as Villa Bottagisio, Villa Guerrieri, Villa Marzan, and Casa Ottolenghi, the latter designed by architect Carlo Scarpa. Each of these residences has its unique charm.

THIS PLACE IS IMPORTANT BECAUSE

Bardolino has a deep connection to viticulture. The surrounding area is home to the renowned Bardolino DOC red wine, which has made the town internationally famous. The area is marked with vineyards and wine cellars offering tours and tastings, allowing visitors to discover a wine tradition deeply rooted in the local culture. This connection with wine is celebrated each year through events such as the Festa del Chiaretto in May and the Festa dell'Uva e del Vino in October. Both events celebrate the town's wine heritage with moments of conviviality, tastings, and popular festivities.
