\n\t\t\t\t\t\tSirmione, the \u201cPearl of Lake Garda,\u201d is located on the southern shore of the lake. Since Roman times, Sirmione has been continuously inhabited, as evidenced by the remains of a Roman villa, famous for its elaborate mosaics and ancient baths. The renowned spa tradition of this place originates from that period.\nSirmione also played a significant role in the Middle Ages under the control of the powerful Scaligeri family, who turned it into a strategic stronghold with the construction of the Scaligero Castle in the 13th century.\nSirmione was also a favourite destination of the legendary poet Catullus: it is said that he wrote some of his masterpieces here, spending carefree days with his muse.\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\tDelving into some of its monuments, it is easy to understand why Sirmione is considered a unique place. The Scaligero Castle is one of the most photographed spots in town. Surrounded by the lake on three sides, it is not only an important medieval fortification but also houses a museum and allows visitors to walk along its ancient walls, from which splendid panoramic views of Lake Garda can be enjoyed.\nAnother extraordinary place is the Roman villa known as the Grotte di Catullo, a fascinating archaeological site dating back to the 1st century A.D., probably the residence of an aristocratic Roman family.
