\n\t\t\t\t\t\tErice, one of the \u201cBorghi pi\u00f9 belli d\u2019Italia\u201d (Italy\u2019s most beautiful villages), is a charming little town perched atop the mountain, about 750 metres above sea level, from where it overlooks the surrounding landscape. Its historical and strategic significance is evident from its elevated position, which over the centuries has made it a key site for sea observation and defence. The town has witnessed various historical eras, from the early Elymian and Punic settlements to the Norman period, during which it served as a stronghold.\nThese historical layers are reflected in its architecture, which has preserved an impressively intact medieval character. Among its most important monuments are the Cyclopean Walls, the Castle of Venus, and the Cathedral dedicated to Santa Maria Assunta, with its bell tower. The Castle of Venus, located at the very top of the mountain, symbolizes the deep connection between history and landscape.
