\n\t\t\t\t\t\tLa Cervara, which stands high above the sea, is a Benedictine monastery founded in 1361 and dedicated to St. Jerome. Over the centuries, the monastery is said to have welcomed many important and renowned historical figures. The complex, rich in history, has undergone several phases, including the suppression of monastic orders in the 18th century and a long period of neglect. \nElegance and refinement emerge from the details of the cloister\u2019s black-and-white-banded columns, reminiscent of the Pisan Romanesque style, as well as the magnificent Carrara marble floors. The cloister and church were restored under the supervision of conservator Pinin Brambilla in the 1990s.
