\n\t\t\t\t\t\tThe castle is located in the centre of the village. It was built in 1550 to defend the village from incursions by Ottoman pirates. Its design, by Antonio de C\u00e0rabo, anticipated that of Rapallo Castle, which was built the following year for the same purpose. During its first two centuries, the castle underwent various modifications, but over time it felt into disuse and was abandoned.
