\n\t\t\t\t\t\tThe lagoon of Messolonghi is the largest lagoon-marine system in Greece<\/b>. It was created by the convergence of the Acheloos <\/b>and Evinos<\/b> rivers, as their sediments slowly transformed the closed basin into a shallow lagoon. It is home to countless winged and aquatic inhabitants and has been designated an Environmental Park. There are vast water surfaces over which about 75% of the total number of bird species in Greece live.
